Kassia Echavarri-Queen is a strategic operations leader with over 20 years of experience spanning humanitarian response, technology, and philanthropy. She brings board-level governance expertise, operational excellence, and a proven track record of partnering with executives to drive organizational impact and growth.

Kassia served for six years on the Board of Directors of Doctors Without Borders USA, including five years as Vice President, where she provided oversight of the Executive Director, strategic planning, and $110M operational budget. She was a member of the Audit and Programs Committees and championed diversity, equity, and inclusion as a strategic organizational priority.

Her operational leadership includes nearly a decade with Doctors Without Borders directing medical humanitarian operations across conflict zones and health crises, managing budgets up to $18M. Most recently, as Director of Community Investment at the Wikimedia Foundation, she doubled the grantmaking portfolio to $16M, designed trust-based philanthropic strategies, and increased funding to underrepresented communities by 30%.

At ThoughtWorks, Kassia advised global technology companies and humanitarian organizations on digital transformation and human-centered innovation. As an independent consultant, she partners with nonprofit executives and boards on strategic operations, development strategy, and organizational transformation.

Kassia holds an MA in International Economics and Management from SDA Bocconi and a BA in International Relations from United States International University. She currently serves on the advisory committee of Birth Companions Community Center and is a community member of Justice Funders. She now lives in her Native San Francisco, with her son.
